For over 10 years the Church has spearheaded a local weekly community program called Drug-Free Marshals in local schools, boys and girls clubs, boy scouts troops and community centers. Specializing in elementary school children, the program helps to give each child basics on drugs and personal integrity offering solutions. Reciting a pledge to be drug-free, each child is sworn in as a Drug-Free Marshal and given a badge to wear. Over 25,000 children in the D.C. area have been sworn in over the last several years. The programs goal is to introduce at an early age good education on the issue of drugs, an awareness of the problem, the knowledge that it is good to be drug-free and increase self-respect. The Drug-Free Marshals program also sponsors a yearly Christmas Holiday party for local children and families in need. Working in partnership with other community groups, the Drug-Free Marshals put on a festive event for the families and children donating hundreds of toys and other gifts in the spirit of the season.
